Welcome to The Coombe Barton Inn

The Inn, parts of which are over 200 years old, was originally built for the ‘Captain’ of the slate quarry in the days when slate was quarried from the cliffs and loaded in the Haven.

The Coombe Barton Inn

The slate trade declined and has long since ceased but, although unused by commercial craft now, the pretty little haven remains, tucked in between massive rock formations that make this part of the Cornish coast so spectacular.

The Coombe Barton Inn makes an ideal base for exploring Cornwall and Devon’s historical and traditional places of interest and beauty such as the award winning Eden Project, Tintagel of King Arthur fame, Dartmoor, Land’s End, Plymouth Hoe and the Barbican. All are easily accessible in a day’s outing.

The Interior of The Coombe Barton Inn

The ‘Coombe Barton’ is a free house boasting excellent local Food, Cornish Real Ales, Keg Bitters & Lagers, Wines & Spirits. The Inn offers five letting rooms and for that special event a spacious function room, an ideal venue for weddings.

Food is available all year round in our public bar and bar/restaurant and includes chargrilled steaks – Fresh Seafood, Home-made Chef’s Specials, Home-baked Cornish Pasties, Ploughmans and Toasted Sandwiches. Children welcome. Why not try our superb Sunday Lunchtime Carvery. Choose from Roast Ribs of Local Beef, Legs of Pork and Fresh Chicken, but book early to avoid disappointment.

Crackington Beach

The beach, with its sand and small rock pools, is ideal for children and adults alike. It is patrolled by a seasonal Life Guard, making it one of North Cornwall’s safest beaches for surfing and swimming.

Leisure

The Inn lies right on the National Trust South West Coastal Path overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in an ‘area of outstanding natural beauty’, and is an excellent base for exploring Arthurian legends, the Eden project, spectacular coastal walks or any of its vast untamed natural landmarks.

Crackington Haven

Within easy reach are several quality golf courses, plus the deep sea fishing at Padstow and Boscastle. Other leisure activities close by include tennis and fly fishing. There is a large screen TV for major sporting events, in the public bar of the Inn where pool and darts can also be enjoyed.
